Management Team
Dr. Alan Friedman, President/CEO
Since joining PSI in 1973, Dr. Friedman has served the company in a variety of technical and management positions, and was named President and CEO of PSI in 1997. Dr. Friedman has a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Connecticut, and he started with PSI after completing 2 years of post-doctoral research/teaching. During his tenure at PSI, Dr. Friedman has been involved in a broad range of research, consulting, marketing, and project management in the areas of antisubmarine warfare, signal processing, ocean acoustics and array systems, and precision measurement instrumentation. Both Alan and his wife are natives of Washington, D.C.
Mr. David Pickett, VP - Research and Development Sector
Mr. Pickett joined PSI in June 1975 and is presently Vice President of the Research and Development Sector. Dave has a M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Virginia Tech University and a M.S. in Ocean Engineering from M.I.T. Mr. Pickett has extensive experience in engineering and information systems technology to the design and development of operational analysis databases, multimedia training, software engineering projects, information system development, design and development of large-scale operational databases, and design of at-sea experiments.
Mr. Paul Banas, VP - Technology Services Sector
Mr. Banas joined PSI in November 1985 and is presently Vice President of the Technology Service Sector. Paul has a M.A. from Louisiana State University in Marine Sciences. He also provides program management and technical expertise in the areas of Tactical Oceanography, ASW, and Computer Systems Engineering. Prior to joining PSI, Mr. Banas was at the Naval Oceanographic Office for seven years where he worked on several large operational oceanographic and atmospheric systems.
Mr. Alan Kobran, VP - Products Sector
Alan Kobran joined PSI in September 2006, as the Vice President of the Products Sector, to lead the company's growing product business. With a diverse set of current technology product offerings, and new products coming from our Research and Development Sector, Alan is responsible for sales planning and budgets, product plans, marketing research, sales support , and third party negotiations related to our products. During Alan's career he has held key management positions in engineering, product development, sales, and marketing and has extensive experience in the establishment and growth of successful technology companies. Alan has both B.S. in EE and M.S. in Computer Science from Rutgers University.
Mr. Rick Jackson, CFO
Mr. Jackson joined PSI in March 2000 and serves as the Chief Financial Officer. He has held multiple financial exceutive positions with a variety of government and commercial enterprises throughout his 25-year career. He is responsible for managing the overall financial activities of PSI. Mr. Jackson has a MBA and BA from Chapman College. He holds both a CPA from the Virginia Board of Accountancy and a CGFM from the Professional Certification Board of the Association of Government Accountants. He is a member of the AICPA, VSCPA and AGA.
Ms. Hang Truong, Director of Human Resources
Hang Truong joined PSI in February 1999. As Director of Human Resources, she manages all areas of Human Resources, to include Benefits, Compensation, Recruiting, Employee Relations, Policies & Procedures, Performance Management, Employment Law, Organizational Development, and Management Training. She has a MA in Human Resources Management from Marymount University, and is an active member of the national Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), as well as the Human Resources Association of the National Capital Area.
Mr. Marc Chazan, Director of Contracts
Marc Chazan joined PSI in June 2001 and serves as the Director of Contracts. Marc and his team in Reston and Slidell provide contract management and purchasing support for the three sectors. His responsibilities include support for new business proposals, business strategy development, intellectual property issues, product licensing, property leases, contract negotiation, and contract administration. Marc has an MBA from The George Washington University and is a member of the National Contract Management Association.
